Protx provide a secure method of linking your business to your Lloyds TSB Cardnet merchant account, to process online, mail order and telephone credit or debit card payments. We operate in a similar way to a terminal in a shop, except in the online world.

In fact, Protx is the largest independent payment gateway in the UK processing millions of payments each month on behalf of thousands of online businesses.

Pricing Policy

Protx is committed to providing a fully featured and high quality service at an exceptionally competitive price. Not only are our rates among the lowest in the industry, but unlike our competitors, we also include all the features and benefits of our solutions in the package for no additional charge.

Small Business Service: If you process under 1,000 transactions per quarter you will be charged a flat rate of £20 per month and no other charges whatsoever.

Corporate Payment Service: If you process over 1,000 transactions per quarter, we will charge you 10 pence per transaction, and no other charges.

VSP Terminal Only Service: Customers who use our VSP Terminal Only Service for processing mail order transactions will be charged a flat rate of £10 per month including up to 300 transactions per quarter.

There are no set up costs, no annual feels, no integration costs, in fact, there are no other costs at all.

Customers are allocated to the most appropriate pricing policy for them depending on the volume of transactions processed in the previous quarter.

As part of the service, Protx offers free integration and support, free integration kits for a variety of platforms, and reports, including bank reconciliation reports. You can also receive free access to VSP Terminal if you sign up for one of the other services providing you have a Mail Order Telephone Order merchant number set up on your Protx account.

Please note that our prices are in addition to the fees levied by Lloyds TSB Cardnet for your merchant account.

Protx Products

The Protx VeriSecurePayment (VSP) system is available in four different formats: VSP Form, VSP Server, VSP Direct, and VSP Terminal. Each provides a different interface through which you and your web site can connect, depending on your needs and circumstances. Our fifth product, VSP Admin, is a comprehensive account administration and reporting tool which is provided free of charge with all VSP products.

VSP Form is our most popular solution and is recommended to merchants who share hosting facilities run from third party servers or who use client-side shopping carts.

VSP Server is recommended to merchants who wish to run their own order and transaction reports on their servers, but do not wish to invest in their own digital certificate nor collect credit card details on their own website.

VSP Direct is recommended to merchants who wish to keep customers on their own website for the entire transaction process and/or who wish to create their own customised reports. This system is suitable for merchants who wish to integrate a payment system into existing back office payment software such as a call centre.

VSP Terminal is recommended to merchants who wish to accept orders via the telephone, fax or mail order and who do not have their own call centre software. VSP Terminal is provided free of charge with each of the other solutions as a back up to website orders providing you have a Mail Order Telephone Order merchant number set up on your Protx account.

VSP Admin is a comprehensive account administration and reporting tool which is provided free of charge with all VSP products.

Fraud Prevention

 

E-commerce is generally a safe and convenient way to buy and sell goods. However, because transactions occur with the cardholder not present, there is a higher risk of fraud than there would be if the cardholder were present.

It is strongly recommended that you read our fraud prevention information before you begin trading online. This includes details of your legal position and potential exposure together with information about what Protx can do to help you prevent fraud.

Guide to Online Payments

To become a fully e-commerce enabled merchant and start taking payments from your customers you need take the following four simple steps:

1. Set up your website and a shopping cart to allow your customers to select the products or services they wish to buy.

2. Obtain an internet merchant account with Lloyds TSB Cardnet so that they can process your payments.

3. Select which Protx payment system is most suitable for your needs: VSP Form, VSP Server, VSP Direct or VSP Terminal only service.

4. Apply to use our services through our online application form. Please click here to access the form.

The Application Process

 

It only takes about 7 days to set up an account with Protx and start taking payments from your customers.

Step 1: Complete the registration form

When you are ready to apply with Protx, please click here to fill out the online registration form. Protx does not refuse any application. Our only requirement is that you have an Internet merchant account with Lloyds TSB Cardnet.

You can start completing the form today and save your application until you have all your details available.

Step 2: Test using your Test Account

Once we have received your application, we will send you an integration kit including full instructions so that you can start the integration process. This will allow you to begin integration and testing.

Within a few days, we will send you unique passwords to allow you to complete your integration and testing.

Step 3: Start Taking payments from your customers

Once you have tested successfully using your unique passwords, you will need to sign a Direct Debit Instruction. You will also need to e-mail golive@protx.com to let our support team know that you are ready to go live.

We will connect your account to the bank on our live server within 24 hours so you can start accepting payments from your customers.
